Crime gang member slain in shootout with cops in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY – A suspected member of a criminal gang was killed in a police shootout in Biñan City, Laguna, police said Wednesday.

Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) police, said the slain suspect Rolando Bugarin was allegedly a member of the “Pogi” criminal group and included in the police watchlist for illegal drugs.

Gaoiran said the city police went to Bugarin’s home in Barangay (village) Platero around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and to implement a search warrant when the suspect suddenly drew his gun and traded shots with the operatives. The suspect was killed instantly.   /kga
