President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday warned he will “neutralize” or “terminate” policemen who are engaged in illegal activities.

Duterte’s warning came after a policeman was killed while three others were arrested earlier Tuesday in Taguig City for their alleged involvement in a kidnap-extortion incident.

“Huwag kayong pumasok diyan sa droga, ‘yang mga murder-for-hire, kasi ipa-project ko rin kayo,” he said in a speech in Pasay City.

“You can be very sure there will be a project for you and really, that is to neutralize or terminate you,” he also said.

The President noted he needs to punish police “scalawags” this way because “nothing will happen to the country” otherwise, and “nobody seems to obey the law.”

He said human rights concerns usually let people evade punishment for violating laws.  /kga
