Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) president, continues to throw shade at a group claiming to be the “genuine” party officers, saying they were a “comic relief on a heavy traffic Friday.”

But he said he was also “saddened” by the group’s election of officers, which he branded as just a “show.”

“Ang pakiramdam ko ngayon ay may halong lungkot at tuwa. Nakakalungkot na maraming nanggugulo ngayon panahon na ng politika. Sayang ang ginastos nila. Sana tinulong na lang nila sa mga nasunugan sa Sulu. (PDP CARES is going to Sulu tom to bring assistance to fire victims there),” Pimentel said in a text message to INQUIRER.net.

(I have mixed feelings of sadness and amusement. It’s sad that there are many people who are making trouble amid a politicized season. It’s a waste of resources. They should have helped the fire victims in Sulu.)

“Pero nakakatuwa din na meron tayong comic relief ngayon araw ng Biyernes na sigurado ako na ma traffic!” he added.

(But I’m also amused that we’re given a  comic relief this Friday when traffic will turn heavy.)

While he admitted that he and his father, former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr., were aware of the group’s national assembly, he said this “does not make their event or election authorized.”

“Ako nga rin alam ko ‘yun assembly nila. Kaya nga kami naglabas ng warning in the newspapers about their event. Hence he can also say na ‘alam ko ang assembly.’ But that doesn’t make it authorized. Grabe naman ang standards nila,” the younger Pimentel said.

(I knew, too, they are going to hold an assembly. That’s why we issued a warning in the newspapers about their event. Hence, he can also say that I knew about the assembly. But that doesn’t make it authorized. Their standards are outrageous.)
