Morales’ advice to the next Ombudsman: Monitor cases closely
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales on Monday advised her successor to “constantly monitor cases or you will go crazy.”
“Given the volume of work here, you’ll go crazy if you don’t monitor [status of cases],” Morales said in an interview with Karen Davilla on ANC Headstart.
Morales said she keeps pieces of paper with reminders to call investigators to follow-up investigation reports. She said she expects them (investigators) to explore all sides of issues that crop up during investigation.
She added that her successor should give priority to high-profile cases such as the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) cases that involve millions of pesos.
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is already in the process of searching for the next Ombudsman as Morales’ seven-year term will end on July 26, 2018. — Alyssa Javier/INQUIRER.net Intern /ee
