Municipal councilor killed, 4 others wounded in Lanao del Sur shooting

ILIGAN CITY — A municipal councilor in Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur was killed while four others were wounded when an unidentified gunmen opened fire at them in Barangay Poblacion in Balabagan town.

Police identified the municipal official as Nassif Palawan Basil, 31.  The wounded victims were former barangay chairman Alvin Abdullah Sampiano, Bibi Disalongan, Topa Disalongan and Bensuod Mangigin.

The victims were at the house of former Balabagan Mayor Hadji Amer Sampiano “for a visit” when five unidentified gunmen, onboard a blue Toyota Tamaraw FX, entered the compound and opened fire at the victims, police said.

Senior Inspector Jemar Delos Santos, information officer of the Police Regional Office in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO ARMM), said authorities have gathered leads based on witnesses’ descriptions of the suspects. /ee
