4 foreigners arrested by BI for overstaying

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested four foreign nationals in separate operations against overstaying aliens in the country.

A report sent by BI Acting Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the foreigners were arrested recently by immigration operatives in Baguio, Biñan and Manila.

Arrested were two Chinese, a Japanese and a South Korean, the BI said.

“All of them were caught in the act of violating Philippine immigration laws, thus they were arrested, detained, and charged with deportation cases,” Manahan said.

According to the BI, overstaying and undocumented 48-year-old South Korean Jin Jaehyung was arrested in Baguio City. BI records revealed that Jin is wanted in Korea for fraud.

Japanese Akitoshi Kadobayashi meanwhile was arrested on July 3 inside his office at the Laguna Technopark Economic Zone. He has been working as a sales manager in the country since 2017 without a working permit and visa.

On the same day, BI agents also arrested in Manila Chinese nationals Li Yan Yan, and Lin Feng Jian who were caught working without working permits. They were also unable to present their passports or any immigration document.

All four foreigners were brought to the BI detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig with deportation proceedings now being readied against them.  / muf Kristine Macasiray/INQUIRER.net Intern
