STC concert

SAINT Theresa’s College-Cebu (STC) will hold its first-ever concert for a cause today at 9 p.m. at the STC auditorium.

The concert organized by the College Student Council-Core Group will raise funds for the school’s scholarship program and partner communities through the community involvement program. This year’s theme is “Building Champions.”

Wilma Rada, president of the STC-College Student Council, said the concert will portray how a true champion is made. It will show dreams, struggles, perseverance and faith that we hope would inspire the audience to bring out the champion within them.

Vocation Jamboree

THE Directors of Vocations in the Philippines Cebu Chapter will hold today a vocation jamboree.

All fourth year high school and graduating college students and young professionals in southern Cebu are invited to join the event, said Brother Roy Lapingcao of the Society of the Divine Word.

It will be held at the President Diosdado Macapagal Sports and Cultural Center in Argao town, southern Cebu.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. The registration fee is P20.

SPAY AND NEUTER TRAINING

THE Humane Society International (HSI), in cooperation with the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries and Southwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine, has been conducting free spay and neuter training for the 12 selected veterinarians all over the country.

The training started on Nov. 21 and will run until Dec. 5 at the SWU Veterinary Hospital on Sabellano Street, barangay Quiot, Cebu City. Each graduate will receive a spay and neuter instruments from HSI.

The training was the last of three trainings conducted this year in compliance with the agreement signed between the Cebu City government and HSI on November 2010.

On Nov. 29, Rahul Seghal from HSI-India and Kelly O’meara from HSI-US will be in Cebu City to present to Mayor Michael Rama an assessment of the first year of implementation of the spay and neuter project in Cebu City.

Japanese Firm holds MANGROVE PLANTING

THE Kanepackage (KP) Group of Companies has expanded its endeavor to Getafe town in Bohol.

Kanepackage, a Japanese packaging firm with offices in the country, has already planted more than 400,000 mangroves in Olango Island in Lapu-Lapu City since the launching of its KP-Green Earth program last 2009 which commits to plant five million mangrove trees.

The program is in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) together with the host community.

The company’s first tree planting in Bohol will take place in Banacon Island in Getafe today, Nov. 26 at 7 a.m.

Like the previous tree planting activities, top officials from the Kanepackage are expected to grace the event headed by its president Yoshikasu Kanesaka.
