Container van catches fire on SLEX

SAN PEDRO CITY – A 40-foot container van caught fire while on the southbound lane of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) on Friday morning.

Information from the Manila Toll Expressway Systems (MATES) said the incident happened around 6 a.m. near San Pedro exit.

Chief Inspector Jose Maria Franca of the police Highway Patrol Group said the truck driver, Marvin Valera, said something exploded from underneath the truck before it was engulfed in fire. No one was reported hurt from the incident.

Authorities said the fire was put out and the vehicle towed past 9 a.m.

The truck belongs to Safeway Customs Brokerage Inc., the report said. MARICAR CINCO
