Wheeler-dealer sold ‘good lines’ to telcos — Duterte

A wheeler-dealer was able to sell “two good lines,” or frequencies, to two telecommunications firms that wanted to sell it to the government even if these were supposed to be free, according to President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday.

In a speech at the National Information and Communications Technology Summit 2018 at SMX Convention Center in Davao City, the President did not identify the wheeler-dealer or the companies.

One of the frequencies, he said, was being sought by a telecommunications firm “who just came in.”

“But these two giants actually got it from this wheeler-dealer, bought it,” the President said. “I don’t have anything against it, it’s business,” he said. —Allan Nawal
