MANILA, Philippines—The former vice mayor of a Lanao Del Sur town was shot dead by still unidentified men in Cotabato province Sunday morning, police said on Monday.
Police said Salim Rajamuda, 50, was shot dead by three men at 8 a.m. in Ulangkaya Compound, Abellera Street, Kabacan town.
Rajamuda, former vice mayor of Bayang town in Lanao Del Sur, died on the spot due to gunshot wounds he sustained on different parts of the body, said Senior Inspector Alexander Sarabia, spokesman of police regional office 12.
The three suspects, who fled on board a motorcycle, were immediately arrested.
Sarabia identified them as Abdul Azis Abdulla, Randy Cadatuan Dimolongon, and Musanip Bondollan.
The three will remain in the custody of Kabacan police pending investigation on the incident.
Recovered from the crime scene were two shells from a caliber .45 pistol.
