MANILA, Philippines - Police warned the public on Wednesday against the new operation of a robbery group which attacks its victims by hitting them first on the head before carting away their valuables.

Supt. Romulo Sapitula, chief of the Manila Police District Station 5 (Ermita), said the victim, Arnulfo Amor, was walking home from work at around 2 a.m. when three men approached him at the corner of Magallanes and Sta. Potenciano Streets.
The victim claimed one of them suddenly hit his head with a huge stone. As he fell to the ground, the suspects took his P5,000 cash and fled immediately.

They were identified as Erwin Tagle, 26, and Mario Rodriguez, 45.
Tagle is now detained at the MPD station 5, but Rodriguez managed to escape while undergoing medical examination at the Ospital ng Maynila.
