MANILA, Philippines—Oil firms implemented another round of price increase on Tuesday.

Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. and Petron Corp., two of the so-called Big 3 oil firms, as well as small oil firms Phoenix Petroleum, Eastern Petroleum Corp., Flying V Philippines and Total Phils. have raised the prices of gasoline, diesel and kerosene by P1.50 a liter effective Tuesday.

Shell raised the prices of gasoline, diesel, and kerosene at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, said vice president for communications Roberto Kanapi.

Petron's price adjustment took effect at 6 a.m. Tuesday, said spokesperson Virginia Ruivivar.

Phoenix's price adjustment will apply for diesel and gasoline and only in their Luzon stations, said lawyer Raymond Zorilla.

Total, however, said it was raising to P2 the discount it gives public utility vehicles on diesel in calamity stricken areas.

According to Flying V spokesperson Joey Cruz, the price adjustment comprised the second tranche of increases to make up for loses incurred during the time Executive Order No. 839 was in effect.

EO 839 froze fuel prices at their Oct. 15 levels in Luzon, which was placed under a state of calamity because of the damage wrought by Tropical Storms “Ondoy” and “Pepeng.” The price cap was lifted on Monday last week.

Oil industry executives earlier said the amount they had to recover stood at P4 to P5 a liter.

Two days after the EO was lifted, oil companies raised prices of diesel by P2 a liter, gasoline by P1.25 to P1.50 a liter, and kerosene by P1.50 a liter.
