MANILA, Philippine – In an inspiring display of commitment to sustainability, Quezon City government has announced its plans to spearhead Earth Hour 2025, inviting businesses and residents alike to participate in a powerful movement against climate change.

On Saturday, March 22, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., citizens are urged to turn off non-essential lights as a symbol of their collective resolve to combat rising greenhouse gas emissions.

“Switching off our lights is more than just a gesture; it’s a statement reinforcing our shared responsibility towards the planet,” stated Mayor Joy Belmonte, who is also recognized as a UN Environment Program Champion of the Earth awardee. “This simple act serves as a reminder of our individual and collective impact on the environment and underscores the urgent need for action.”

To commemorate this significant occasion, Quezon City will host a ceremonial switch-off at Robinsons Magnolia, bringing together community members in celebration of environmental efforts and collaboration. Kicking off at 4 p.m., the event will feature interactive exhibits, informative sustainability talks, and an exclusive screening of the highly anticipated Philippine coming-of-age musical film, A Thousand Forests, directed by Hanz Florentino and written by Jeff Ocampo.

The centerpiece of the night—the official lights-off ceremony—will commence at 8 p.m., with Belmonte leading the initiative alongside representatives from Robinsons Magnolia and other local government officials.

Joel Lumanlan, VP and head of operations and marketing for Robinsons malls, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership: “This collaboration showcases our unwavering dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
