MANILA, Philippines—The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has ruled out terrorism as the motive for Sunday’s grenade attack in front of a church which left a lawyer hurt.
Chief Supt. Elmo San Diego, QCPD director, said they were now looking into the possibility that politics in Cagayan province was behind the attack on Manuel Molina.
According to him, they based this on the statement given by Mario, the victim’s son. The police, however, refused to provide media with further details.
Molina suffered a fractured right foot when a man hurled a grenade at him after he left the Kamuning First United Methodist Church on Kamuning Road near the corner of EDSA (Epifanio delos Santos Avenue) at around noon on Sunday.
Supt. Lino Banaag of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said Molina’s son told them that he did not see other possible reasons for the attack on his father aside from politics in Cagayan.
Explosive and ordnance experts were now examining fragments of the grenade and interviewing witnesses to determine the identity of the man who hurled the grenade at Molina.
