MANILA, Philippines? The Quezon City Prosecutor?s Office has recommended the filing of robbery charges against two policemen who allegedly extorted money and stole over a hundred kilos of scrap metal from a junk shop owner in Tandang Sora in 2007.
In a two-page resolution, assistant city prosecutor Dorothy Alarcio-Padilla pushed for the filing of four counts of robbery against Police Officer 2s Noel Fabia and Angelito Resurrecion, who were assigned to the Talipapa police station at that time.
Despite attending the preliminary investigation, the two police officers were unable to submit their counter affidavit to the accusations made by Ronnie Marquez, owner of the RVM junk shop.
Marquez has alleged that in October 2007, the two policemen in uniform barged into his junk shop on Tandang Sora Avenue and conducted a search without the proper warrant.
He also claimed the two officers ordered his helper, Caycay Villasis, to load three sacks, or 75 kilos of scrap copper, worth P25,000 into their patrol car.
Marquez said the cops brought Villasis to the Talipapa police station and that the helper was only released after Marquez paid P5,000. Two months later, the respondents allegedly returned to his shop and seized 100 kilos in scrap copper, again detaining his helper without any charges.
Marquez claimed that he paid another P5,000 for the helper?s release.
