Gunman in Cotabato radioman slay falls
KIDAPAWAN CITY—The suspected gunman behind the 2019 murder of broadcaster Eduardo Dizon has surrendered to a village official in Makilala, Cotabato, after the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) increased the reward for his arrest to P700,000. Lt. Col. John Meridel Calinga, Makilala police Chief, said Junell Jane Andagkit Poten, also known as “Junell Gerozaga,” was fetched by policemen in Barangay Saguing, where he had been hiding for more than five years. Poten was accused of shooting and killing Dizon while the latter was driving his car on his way home to Makilala after his midnight radio program at 97.5 Brigada News FM here. Dante Tabusares, said to be the leader of Kapa Community Ministry International Inc. in Cotabato, and Sotero Jacolbe Jr. were implicated in Dizon’s murder. Jacolbe was acquitted by a Davao City court in March while Tabusares is out on bail. According to lawyer Jyro Go, PTFoMS chief of staff, the prosecution has a new witness and has asked the court to transfer the venue of the case to Metro Manila. —WILLIAMOR MAGBANUA
