MANILA, Philippines ? Five men wearing military uniforms and carrying high-powered firearms barged inside a mall in Marikina City on Monday afternoon and robbed two bank employees of more than P1 million in cash.
Marikina police chief Senior Supt. Sotero Ramos said the incident took place at around 2 p.m. on the ground floor of the Blue Wave Marquinton Mall.
?The robbery took place in less than two minutes. It happened so fast,? Ramos said.
According to the official, the robbers probably had a lookout inside the mall who tipped them off about the bank employees? whereabouts.
Ramos said the robbers entered the mall after alighting from a Toyota FX (plate number WEM 617) with heavily-tinted windows parked near the entrance of a Metro bank branch.
They then waited for two bank employees who had just picked up for deposit the earnings of one of the stores inside the mall.
?At gunpoint, the robbers forcibly took the bag containing cash from the bank employees identified as Marlon Seguerra and Delfin Punzalan,? Ramos said.
The robbers also ordered the bank?s security guards to lie down on the floor.
Witnesses said the robbers casually walked out of the mall, boarded their vehicle and escaped.
Policemen later found the Toyota FX in Barangay Sto. Niño in the city.
According to residents in the area, several armed men alighted from the vehicle and got into another van without a plate number.
