DAGUPAN CITY -- An automated teller machine believed to have been stolen from a gas station at the South Luzon Expressway on the outskirts of Manila was found in Pangasinan, police said Friday.
Police Officer 3 Pepito Boquiren, Malasiqui police desk officer, said the ATM machine, marked "BPI Express Teller," was found by a resident of Barangay (village) Lunec in Malasiqui at around 4 p.m. on Thursday along the provincial road that connects Urdaneta City and Malasiqui town.
Boquiren said a tricycle driver told the police that the ATM machine was dumped from a black van that did not have a plate number.
On Wednesday, eight men, using a bolt cutter, took a Bank of the Philippine Islands ATM from a gasoline station at the SLEx in Muntinlupa City.
The robbers, who disarmed the lone security guard, reportedly took the ATM in less than two minutes and loaded it in a Mitsubishi L-300 van.
Boquiren said the ATM machine was destroyed and emptied when found in Sitio (sub-village) Dilan.
He said investigators were waiting for BPI officials to verify if the machine was the one that had been stolen.
