MARILAO, Bulacan—An Indian national escaped unhurt from his kidnappers after authorities killed four suspects in a shootout in Barangay (Village) Abangan Sur in this town Monday night.
A policeman was wounded during the shootout, said the police.
Chief Superintendent Nilo Dela Cruz, Region 3 police director, identified the victim as only “Mr. Singh” for his protection and security.
Dela Cruz said the victim was abducted by six men on board a brand new gold Toyota Vios car and a motorcycle somewhere in Lolomboy village in Bocaue town at around 9:20 p.m., Monday. The group was cruising on a road in Abangan Sur when cops caught up with them and engaged the kidnappers in a shootout.
Two of the slain suspects were identified as Rodel Tabunan, 25, from Balok, Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija, and Rolando San Juan, 49, from Sta. Rosa village, Marilao. The two others have yet to be identified because no form of identification was found on them.
Dela Cruz said the group was known by the monicker “Bangus kidnap for ransom gang” that preyed on Indian nationals.
Police Officer 1 Ronald Gregorio was hit by a bullet in the left shoulder and was rushed to the St. Michael Hospital in this town, said Senior Supt. Allen Bantolo, Bulacan police director.
