Pagasa predicts heat index in Cagayan to reach 47 °C on Sunday (April 28)
MANILA, Philippines — Aparri, Cagayan is expected to hit the highest heat index on Sunday at 47 °C, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
This is followed by Dagupan City in Pangasinan and Tuguegarao city, Cagayan which may reach 46°C based on Pagasa’s forecast.
Besides the three places, the state weather bureau said 37 other areas will likely reach a heat index of 42 to 51°C, which falls under the “danger” category.
This condition can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable with continued heat or sun exposure.
Meanwhile, the following areas is expected to experience extreme heat at 45°C:

Amid the extreme heat, Pagasa advised the public to limit outdoor time.
It also urged the people to drink plenty of water; avoid tea, coffee, soda and liquor; use umbrellas; wear hats and sleeved clothing outdoors; and schedule heavy-duty activities during the cooler periods of the day.
