House to focus on strengthening oversight function, says Speaker
MANILA, Philippines — As the second regular session begins, the House of Representatives will focus on strengthening its oversight functions, according to Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Romualdez said the oversight functions include “monitoring and evaluating the implementation of laws and policies, ensuring accountability, transparency, and the protection of the public interest.”
“Having effectively discharged our legislative duties, the House is positioned to enhance its commitment to oversight function,” the lawmaker said.
“Through rigorous oversight, the House will actively engage in scrutinizing government actions, addressing inefficiencies, and safeguarding the integrity of our democratic institutions,” he added.
Moreover, Romualdez said the lower chamber will prioritize three major issues within its oversight functions.
