MANILA, Philippines – A woman was arrested by elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region I for allegedly sselling methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in the province of La Union, an official said Wednesday.
Joint operatives of PDEA and the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested Daisy Ramos, 35, on Tuesday by virtue of a search warrant issued by the San Fernando Municipal Trial Court under Judge Carlito Corpuz, said Bismarck Bengwayan, public information officer of PDEA region one.
Ramos was arrested after weeks of surveillance operations in her home in San Fernando City.
Items seized from her possession included packets of small plastic sachets used to repack illegal drugs, suspected drug money, and a cellular phone that allegedly contained text message orders and illegal drug transactions.
Bengwayan said Ramos was able to elude police and PDEA arrest several times because of an informant.
Ramos has been blamed for the proliferation of shabu in the city and nearby areas.
