MANILA, Philippines -- A woman died while her husband was successfully rescued when their motorboat capsized off the shores of Dinagat Islands early Monday morning, a police official said on Tuesday.
Veronica Pepoy, 52, drowned after big waves tipped off their motorboat off Sitio (sub-village) Janus, Barangay (village) Poblacion in Cagdianao town, said Chief Superintendent Jaime Milla, director of police regional office 13.
Veronica’s husband, Romeo, was successfully rescued by local residents there at around 9 a.m.
The Pepoys, squid dealers, went off shore when their boat capsized at 7 a.m.
