MANILA, Philippines -- Police in the province of Masbate are looking for a surgeon who allegedly stole the statues of the Immaculate Concepcion from the St. Anthony De Padua cathedral in Masbate City last Monday.
Dr. Celemente Hector Bajar remains at large and is facing robbery charges for allegedly leading two other men saw off the head and hands of the ivory statue on November 23 last year in the church located on Quezon Street, Barangay (village) Bapor, Masbate provincial police director Senior Superintendent Reuben Sindac said Wednesday.
Bajar reportedly demanded P10,000 from cathedral officials for the return of the head and hands of the statue.
Police earlier arrested two other suspects, Manolito Francisco Canaway and Arvin Malaguena Rosales.
