CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines—Agents of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency found on Wednesday what appeared to be a shabu laboratory in the village of Consuelo in Floridablanca town.
"We found some apparatus and chemicals used in the manufacture of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride)," PDEA intelligence officer Ronaldo Ricardo said in Filipino.
He said the PDEA sent a team to test the chemicals and conduct an inventory.
A dispute over the land gave hints on the existence of a laboratory there. A Taiwanese man, whose name was not yet disclosed, rented what was a farmland two years ago. Without the landowner's consent, the Taiwanese built a warehouse, police learned.
Consuelo village is near quarry sites and far from the town proper. Local officials claimed they did not know about the activities at the warehouse.
