KAPATAGAN, Lanao del Norte – (UPDATE) Police authorities confirmed Friday the abduction of a Grade 1 pupil by six armed here on August 8, exactly a week after the incident took place.
Senior Superintendent Linog Bagul, Lanao del Norte police director, said a news blackout was imposed when the incident happened so as not to compromise the safety of the victim.
Bagul said the six-year old child of a prominent family here was on his way to the school with his nanny when he was abducted around 6:30 a.m.
"The suspects brought the victim to the hinterlands of Salvador and Sapad leaving the Tamaraw FX they used as getaway behicle in Barangay (village) Mamaanun in Sapad," he said.
Lyndon Calica, provincial information officer, said the kidnappers have asked P10 million for the liberty of the victim.
