MANILA, Philippines?Catholic Church leaders on Wednesday returned to the dialog with the administration regarding family planning policies, with the country's top prelates meeting with President Benigno Aquino III in Malacañang, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said.
It was a high-level dialogue between Aquino on one hand and retired Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales and Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines President Nereo Odchimar on the other.
Lacierda said the meeting was on the invitation of Aquino.
The spokesperson said the meeting recognized the differences between the administration's policies and the Catholic Church?s tenets but focused on the commonalities between the two sides.
For instance, Lacierda said, there was a discussion on sex education and what values should be integrated into the program and at what age sex education in school should begin.
