MANILA, Philippines?About 350 supporters of detained senatorial bet Brigadier General Danny Lim on Tuesday trooped to Camp Aguinaldo to formally kick off the independent candidate's campaign.
The supporters converged at the gate of the military?s national headquarters, where they officially launched the "Saludo sa Matinong Gobyerno, Saludo sa Sundalong may Prinsipyo (Salute to Good Government, Salute to a Soldier with Principle" campaign.
Members of militant groups like the Partidong Manggagawa, Kaakbay, Akbayan, Laban ng Masa, Guardians and Magdalo were also present during the rally.
Lim, a graduate of West Point, is facing rebellion charges and has been imprisoned in Camp Crame since February 2006 over his alleged participation in a failed power grab.
Though an independent candidate, Lim was adopted as guest senatorial candidate by the Liberal Party, Partido ng Masang Pilipino and Bangon Pilipinas.
