MANILA, Philippines – As most lawmakers will be busy beating the deadline to file their certificates of candidacy, the House of Representatives has moved the resumption of session to next week.
Congressmen were supposed to be back Tuesday for session, but Speaker Prospero Nograles said the chamber might find it hard to get a quorum because almost all members would be in their respective districts to file their CoCs.
Session will resume instead on December 7, Nograles said.
"We won't get a quorum anyway because everyone is in his district now to file and put up their team candidates," he said in a text message.
Session will run from December 7 to 18. Then congressmen will go on a month-long break. Session will resume anew on January 19 up to February 5.
There will be no session in the three-month campaign period from February 6 to May 30. Congress will convene anew on May 31 up to June 4.
