MANILA, Philippines ? At least one or two more typhoons are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility for 2009, an official from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.
In a telephone interview, Pagasa weather chief Nathaniel Cruz said that one more tropical cyclone might be expected for the month of November and another for December.
?Tropical cyclones in the months of November and December are usually strong but they have relatively smaller rain and wind areas than those that enter during the months of July, August and September,? Cruz told INQUIRER.net.
The next two tropical cyclones which will enter the Philippines will be named ?Urduja? and ?Vinta,? Cruz said.
Meanwhile, tropical depression ?Tino? has weakened into a low pressure area and all storm signals have been lowered.
Cruz said that the cool winds brought by the northeast monsoon caused Tino to weaken.
