MANILA, Philippines?Malacañang will propose a P1.54 trillion budget for 2010, Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya said Friday.
Andaya said the 2010 outlay was eight percent or P115 billion higher than this year?s P1.415 national budget.
But the Palace has yet to come up with detailed appropriations, he said.
?No details yet. It?s still a general framework,? Andaya told reporters at the Senate after attending a hearing on the alleged premature campaign spending by several Cabinet officials.
Andaya also could not say if the 2010 budget would require additional tax measures.
?On additional tax measures, that will be an issue that has to be tackled and decided upon now,? he said.
?We had the same problem in 1998. We?re seeing the same symptoms coming back so that has to be addressed even by the next administration,? Andaya said.
He said Malacañang would submit the proposed budget to Congress on August 26, a day before the constitutional deadline of one month after the July 27 opening of Congress.
