Cops arrest Tarlac town’s most wanted man

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Two men landed in jail after selling an unlicensed pistol loaded with live bullets to an undercover policeman in Tarlac City on Wednesday, April 24.

In a statement on Thursday, Tarlac provincial police director Colonel Miguel Guzman said the suspects sold a caliber 9mm Armscor pistol with a magazine loaded with seven live rounds of ammunition.

He said the police also seized from the duo two medium-sized plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).

It was too late for the suspects to cancel the transaction, as they already handed over to the poseur-buyer the loaded firearm and received the marked and powder-dusted 24 pieces of P1,000 bills.

Upon their arrest, the suspects were asked to produce the firearm’s documents but failed to do so.

The two faced charges of violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The mobile phone and motorcycle used by the suspects in transacting and bringing the gun to the undercover police officer were also taken as part of the pieces of evidence against the former.

Guzman said the successful arrest of the suspects resulted from cooperation between law enforcers and the community. He said the Tarlac police would continue to strengthen its ties with non-government organizations and villagers to effectively suppress criminality in the province. INQ
