MANILA, Philippines – The new presiding justice of the Sandiganbayan anti-graft court took her oath before Chief Justice Reynato Puno on Monday.
Associate Justice Kristina Cortez-Estrada took over from Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta, who was recently appointed to the Supreme Court.
Before she was named presiding justice, Estrada chaired of the Sandiganbayan fifth division where she handled the sequestration cases against the heirs of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos and tycoon Lucio Tan.
Estrada also served as a regional trial court Judge for 15 years. She was appointed to the Sandiganbayan on March 3, 1998.
