MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE 2) Major oil players Pilipinas Shell and Petron Corporation announced a rollback on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) effective Tuesday, officials said on Monday.

Pilipinas Shell vice president for communications Bobby Kanapi and Petron spokesperson Virginia Ruivivar said the P4 per kilogram or P44 per 11 kilogram rollback would take effect midnight Tuesday.

Petron will also reduce the cost of its auto LPG, which most cabs use, by P2.50 per liter, also on Tuesday, Ruivivar said.

Meanwhile, Eastern Petroleum president Fernando Martinez rolled back their auto LPG by P3 per kilogram noontime.

Oil companies said the rollback was prompted by the huge reduction in the contract price of LPG worldwide.
