MANILA, Philippines?National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Nicanor Bartolome created a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to solve the killing of a radio anchor in Malabon City on Thursday.
Bartolome said he had directed the task force to look into the murder of Maria Len Flores-Somera, 45, who hosted a public service program over DZME.
The NCRPO chief said Northern Police District Deputy District Director for Operations Senior Superintendent Wilson Amper heads the SITG.
Disagreement within the Silenian Homeowners Association, where Somera was president, is one angle being looked into by authorities, said Bartolome. He said the task group is tasked with coming up with the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the killing, as well as tracking down the suspects. "We do not condone any violence toward our friends in the media, regardless of the reason," Bartolome said.
Somera was shot at the nape by two unidentified assailants while on her way to work along Silonian St., Maysilo village in Malabon City at around 9:30 a.m.
The victim was rushed to the Valenzuela General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival, according to Police Officer 2 Roderick Cruz of the Northern Police District.
Somera hosted the 10:30 a.m.-12 noon show Arangkada 1530 on DZME.
