MANILA, Philippines -- Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has ordered the release of all available funds for the city personnel's mid-year bonuses to be paid within the month, the mayor announced in a press statement Saturday.

In a memorandum, Belmonte directed that the bonuses be paid not later than May 30.

The mid-year bonus for city government employees is equivalent to half a month's salary and half of the P5,000 cash gift for government workers.

Belmonte said he ordered the release to give employees additional money in time for the opening of classes in June.

Part-time City Hall employees are also entitled to the bonus on a prorated basis.
