MANILA, Philippines—A whole family ended up in jail Tuesday for killing a man they accused of stoning their house and pet dog.

Marlon Pamplona, 28, a driver residing at 92 Interior Street, Sabina compound, Maysan Valenzuela was pronounced dead on arrival at the Valenzuela General Hospital early morning Tuesday, after he was stabbed to death by a family avenging their dog.

Police had arrested Lopito Osia, 56, a carpenter, and his four children—Lyn-jhon, 17; Davin, 16; Clodualdo, 13—for Pamplona’s death. Another son, Toto, is still at large.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Marieta Castañeda said that at around 12 midnight Tuesday, Lopito and his children were all in their house in Sabina Compound when they heard that their house and their dog was being pelted with stones, causing their dog to bark ceaselessly.

Seeing that Pamplona was the culprit, Lopito confronted the victim about the dog and they got into a heated exchange. Lopito picked up a metal pipe and chased Pamplona towards a vacant lot near the compound.

His four children also joined in the pursuit for Pamplona and when they caught up with him, took turns in stabbing and hitting the victim with metal pipes and then ran off.

Operatives of Valenzuela Police Community Precinct 9 and some village watchmen, after a few hours, caught the Osia children hiding at a ceramic factory in Maysan.

Lopito eventually surrendered to the police and will face murder charges for the incident. His minor children will be temporarily detained at the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
