MANILA, Philippines -- A call center agent died after he was allegedly attacked by a group led by his live-in partner's brother in Pandacan, Manila, early Sunday.
Victim Chuck de Leon, 32, of 2250 Flerida Street, Pandacan was declared dead on arrival at the Philippine General Hospital around 3 a.m. Sunday. He sustained two stab wounds in the back and abrasions on different parts of his body.
Initial investigation by SPO2 Edgardo Ko of the Manila Police District homicide section showed that the killing may have stemmed from the victim's soured relationship with his live-in partner Sheena Austria, with whom he had a four-month-old son.
Prior to the killing, De Leon went to Austria's home on Industria Street with his friends Benedict Moreno and Ricky Espiritu to visit his son, but they were apparently badmouthed by Austria's mother Elvira.
The incident was reported to the barangay (village) hall, and De Leon was eventually allowed to see his child. However, about an hour later, four men on board a tricycle pounced on the victim and Moreno as they were walking at the corner of Pablo Estate and Kahilum Streets around 2:20 a.m.
The men, who allegedly included Sheena's unidentified brother, ganged up on De Leon while Moreno escaped and sought help.
The victim, however, was already sprawled on the ground upon his friend's return. Ko said they will conduct follow-up operations for the identification and arrest of the suspects.
