MANILA, Philippines--A Philippine-based startup is joining the fray of Facebook application developers, as it announced an application that lets users share free mobile games with other friends in the popular social networking community. Following the local launch of advertising-supported, free mobile games, Ubersoft Inc. has created a customized Facebook application that will give registered subscribers access to about 800 games, the company said. Ubersoft is both a web and mobile application development company with affiliates in San Francisco, California, USA. The local startup said all mobile games listed on its Facebook application are the same games available on the company's Swoopin's WAP site or mobile site. In an interview, Ubersoft CEO Vince Yamat, Swoopin offers the games for free but users have to pay carrier charges during downloading of games. "The Facebook application is an extension of its distribution over the Internet," Yamat said, adding that the Facebook application was developed for about two weeks.
The Facebook Swoopin application allows registered users of Facebook to download free mobile games from their profile to their mobile phone and also share them with friends within the Facebook community. Facebook has about 70,000,000 existing members, Ubersoft said. To use the Swoopin application on Facebook, users need to search for the application and install it. The application will then asks users to select a preferred phone model and a game category before they can download the Swoopin application. Swoopin games can be downloaded from Facebook profile and installed on a mobile phone using Bluetooth or a USB storage device.
