The office of the undersecretary at the Department of Education (DepEd) is poised to file criminal charges against the perpetrators of a fake Facebook page of the annual “Palarong Pambansa” putting the name of the official in a bad light.

In a statement on Friday evening, the office of DepEd Usec. Toni Umali branded as utterly false a viral Facebook post with his photo and a message that pokes fun at teachers who are fat.

To all those who care for DepEd Usec. Toni and our family: Please help us inform everybody about the fake news—fake Facebook accounts, pages and posts concerning DepEd Usec. Toni,” the office appealed to the public.
