Revision of VP ballots suspended as brand new air-con units break down
The Supreme Court sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) on Monday suspended the revision of ballots for the electoral protest of former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. against Vice President Leni Robredo after all the air conditioning units at the revision floor bogged down.
Sources from PET said the 16 brand new air-conditioning units at the Supreme Court Gymnasium, where the revision is being conducted, broke down 1:30 p.m.
The revision was suspended at 2 p.m.
A court employee said a problem in the circuit breaker caused all the 16 air conditioning units to break down.
“How come units that are brand new and just installed very recently malfunctioned,” the employee said.
The suspension of the work at the SC was limited only to the PET revision floor and not the other offices.
The ongoing recount has been suffering delays after four revisors hired by the PET decided to quit on the second day of the recount for no apparent reason.
Only 40 committees from the original 50 committees set by the PET are conducting the revision.
The revision has been rescheduled twice – from February to March 19, 2018 and from March 19 to April 2, 2018 – supposedly because a number of applicants has yet to pass the psychological examination set by the Tribunal. /atm
