MANILA — An entrapment operation Tuesday night in Malate, Manila, led to the arrest of three people who allegedly ran a prostitution ring catering to foreign tourists.

Chief Supt. Rosauro Acio, chief of the Women and Children Protection Center of the Philippine National Police, said Sonny Febra Sr., 42, and Marilou Palacio, 39, both from Pasay City; and Malate resident Rich Ortega, 24, were facing charges of human trafficking.

Six women were rescued in the sting operation in front of a restaurant along Roxas Boulevard, where the suspects received P25,000 in marked money from an undercover agent posing as a client.

The money was supposedly a “downpayment” for the women whom the suspects had been offering to foreigners for sex parties. The suspects were detained at the WCPC headquarters in Camp Crame, while the rescued women were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development to receive assistance.  SFM
