Typhoon Ineng (international name Goni) left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at midnight Sunday after leaving at least 14 dead and dozens hurt in Northern Luzon.

Ben Oris, weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said by phone on Monday that despite Ineng’s exit, the southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to prevail in Luzon.

The weather bureau released its last typhoon bulletin for Ineng late Sunday. It said that by Monday evening, Ineng should be 880 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Heavy rain dumped by the typhoon the past few days killed at least 12 from landslides in Northern Luzon.

About 32,000 also evacuated their homes to safer grounds due to Ineng, the ninth cyclone of the Philippines this year.

Despite Ineng exiting the PAR, there will still be monsoon rain over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon on Monday, said Pagasa, which warned of possible flashfloods and landslides.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over western Visayas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the entire archipelago with moderate to rough seas.
