Did you know: Marikina Memorial Day

By virtue of Proclamation No. 1417, Marikina Memorial Day is celebrated every April 16 in celebration of the city’s founding anniversary in 1630. At present, the land area of Marikina City is approximately 2,150 hectares, or 3.42 percent of the total land area of Metro Manila. Marikina has an estimate population of 513,370 as of 2012, according to the city government website.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
