Bicol, Northern Mindanao on blue alert as they brace for ‘Domeng’

MANILA, Philippines—As Tropical Storm “Domeng” (international name: Peipah) approaches, two regions are already on heightened alert for the impending weather disturbance.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that the Bicol region and Northern Mindanao have raised the Blue alert status on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Blue alert status means that half of the members of the council are on standby.

Regional Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) V in Bicol raised the alert status Saturday morning with “continuous dissemination of weather updates or bulletins” to its local officials and the local media.

Likewise, the RDRRMC X in Northern Mindanao raised the alert status to “continuously monitor the situation.”

RDRRMC X also prepared essential food packs for preemptive evacuation with emergency response units on standby.
