A MUNICIPAL councilor in Carmen town, northern Cebu was arrested after he was caught carrying an unlicensed firearm Tuesday afternoon.

Police said James Camara failed to prove that he had a firearm license for the KG9 rifle in his possession.

Police said they have been monitoring Camara due to persistent complaints by his neighbors that he had been indiscriminately firing in their neighborhood.

Camara was then heading for his cassava plantation in barangay Ipil where Delan lives.

Senior Insp. Alvin Balio, chief of the Carmen police station, said they also received a report that Camara had fired a gun when he arrived in Ipil.

After receiving the report, Carmen police set up a checkpoint and eventually intercepted Camara.

During the arrest, Camara complained of hypertension. He was brought to a hospital in Danao City then moved to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Police said a charge for illegal possession of a firearm will be filed against Camara. /CORRESPONDENTS CHITO O. ARAGON AND CHRISTINE EMILY L. PANTALEON
