Over 750 flee homes as military, communist rebels clash in Butuan

MANILA, Philippines—Over 750 civilians have been displaced  following a clash between government troops and communist rebels in Butuan, Agusan del Norte on Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

In a belated report Friday, the NDRRMC said the encounter  in Anticala village displaced 150 families or about 750 persons.

A total of 80 families or 400 persons sought refuge in Tagkiling Tribal Elementary School in Anticala village.

The local disaster agency in Caraga was handling the evacuation and relief operations, the NDRRMC said.
