5 dead in landslide in Camarines Norte

MANILA, Philippines – A family of five was confirmed dead when a landslide hit their house in Camarines Norte early Wednesday, Office of Civil Defense Region 5 Director Rafaelito Alejandro IV said.

In a text message sent to members of the media, Alejandro said the landslide happened at the home of the Casero family around 1 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay (village) Sta Rosa Norte, Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte.

Camarines provinces were among the provinces severely hit by tropical storm “Juaning” (international name: Nock-ten).

Alejandro identified the victims as Alfredo Casero, 62, Ofelia Casero, 56, Richard Casero, 23, Marian Casero, 18 and one year old Edgar Casero. Their remains have been taken to a funeral parlor, Alejandro said.
