EX-INMATE SHOT

A FORMER inmate was shot and wounded in an eatery in barangay Poblacion 3, Carcar City, southern Cebu.

Joseph Laug-laug, 39, was treated in a Cebu City hospital for multiple gunshot wounds.

Personal grudges could be the motive in the attack, said  police.

3 BAR MANAGERS CHARGED

HUMAN trafficking charges were filed against three bar managers from  barangay Bairan, Bogo City.

Police said the three managers violated Republic Act 9208 also known as the Anti-Trafficking in Person Act of 2003.

Police said 14 females,  including seven girls  aged 14 to 16, were made to work as commercial sex workers in the two bars, which were about 500 meters apart.

The police conducted the raid Saturday night with the help of the International Justice Mission and DSWD.

BOXES OF PAINTS STOLEN

CONSTRUCTION materials worth P95,000 were stolen from a construction firm in barangay Upper Tabok, Mandaue City.

Four boxes of epoxy paint and dry-out finisher were stolen from a parked truck at 3S Globetek Engineering Company at Perez Compound on P. Suico Street.

Engineer Edito Pekitpekit, 44, contractor of the company, reported the theft to the Mandaue City Police Office last Monday morning.

Gil Soon, a former worker, was tagged as a suspect in the theft.

The engineer told police that Soon was seen visiting the compound several times although he was already not connected with the company.

The engineer said they were later informed by habal-habal driver Amando Perez that Soon asked him to transport boxes of paints to barangay Canduman-Basak.

The driver said he didn’t know that the items were stolen.

COP WRONGLY ACCUSED

A POLICEMAN was wrongly accused of indiscriminate firing in his home in barangay Poblacion, Carmen town, northern Cebu.

A neighbor of PO3 Joselito Bueno complained that the policeman fired his gun at 10:05 p.m. last Sunday.

The complainant Eric Bontia, 49, said they were having a videoke session in their house when they heard what they believed were gunshots.

Bontia reported to the police, who rushed to Bontia’s house but failed to find him there.

It was later learned that the policeman was on duty and that the noise were created by firecrackers.

Remnants of firecrackers were found near the policeman’s house.
