After President Rodrigo Duterte revealed on Tuesday that the Magdalo group is plotting with the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to oust him, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV was quick to come to the group’s defense, saying that the President should release his health records  instead.

Trillanes, who formerly belonged to the Magdalo group, said the group were merely following their constitutional mandate.

“Ang grupong Magdalo simula nung kami ay nakalabas kami sa piitan, tumupad kami sa aming mga tungkulin bilang miyembro ng Kongreso. Ginawa namin mga proseso according to the constitution we have been loyal and productive systems of the country so wala yan (The Magdalo group…ever since we came out of jail, we followed our duties as members of Congress. We followed the constitutional process and we have been loyal and progressive members),” Trillanes said in a press briefing at the Senate.

The senator insisted that Duterte’s health records be publicized, saying it could be dangerous for him to be leading the country if he has health problems.

“Palagay ko meron itong karamdamang malubha, wala na ito sa maayos na pag-iisip kaya ako nananawagan ako na i-produce nila ang health records ni Mr. Duterte at delikado sa kamay ng siyang kagaya niya na mamuno sa ating bansa (I think he has a serious health problem. He is no longer in the proper state of mind, so I am calling the administration to produce Mr. Duterte’s health records. It is dangerous for him to lead the country with his condition),” he said.

When asked about his health, Duterte accused Communist Party of the Philippines founding chair Joma Sison of conniving with the Magdalo group.

“Alam mo itong si Sison, itong si Magdalo, pati itong mga ayaw sa akin hindi tumanggap sa akin (You know Sison, and this Magdalo and also these people who don’t like me) ever since the election. They have combined and we have the evidence and conversation provided by a foreign country and the connection will be shown maybe any day now, I asked it be declassified,” Duterte said on Tuesday during his tete-a-tete with Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo.

Sison speculated that Duterte may be suffering from ill health because his skin looks dark and burnt, but the Palace dismissed this. /ee
